Why is it important for you?
Patch Management – This is the most important feature. Windows and
Office updates can cause many small problems that we can’t explain. Why waste time
trying different settings in Word and Outlook to fix a problem, then run Office
Update which can take up to an hour to complete? On a number of occasions, random
problems have been solved simply by running Office Update. ManagePoint will do that
automatically.
Monitoring – We want to prevent problems before they become a bigger
issue. If we are aware of problems and see a trend, we can take action. We will
receive alerts when errors occur in applications, such as failures in backup software
or detection of threats in anti-virus software, as well as when system performance
is suffering consistently.
Scripts – This is also very important. We have created scripts that
monitor important functions in applications such as Symantec definition updates
running correctly, and making sure backups are running successfully. We can also
run hard drive maintenance automatically and be notified if errors occur. Scripting
also can do minor spyware cleanup, install applications or application updates,
make registry changes/small Windows setting changes remotely, and even schedule
reboots of machines or servers.
Auditing – Information that is sometimes hard to gather can be viewed
at a glance. We are notified of newly installed software on a daily basis and can
take action if anything looks suspicious. We can also restrict access to any given
software application on any computer, disabling users from running games, instant
messaging software, etc.
Backup – With an image backup of the workstation, we can restore from
backup after replacing a failed hard drive. Also, we can transfer data offsite for
redundancy. In most cases we will recommend a network drive for backup storage.
